Roobolh: Robot: Automated text replacement (-Crystal Blue +Steel Blue)

Here are the current Rules of Conduct for Steel Blue, meaning what we expect from players. If you follow these guidelines you will enhance your gaming experience a lot. The term "guidelines" implies that common sense should be used to evaluate situations/names that are at the border of one case or another.

In Character vs. Out Of Character
In Character (IC) means to act, speak and behave like your character will do, not as you as a player will do. Also known as roleplay. An example of IC speech is: "Hello traveller, did you hear any news about Hydlaa these days?"

Out Of Character (OOC) is when you are speaking with a GM, or when you speak of any real life events/matters. An example can be: "GM, my client is acting strangely, is there a patch to fix it?"

Remember to act in-character as much as possible when talking to others! We are all working towards an Roleplay atmosphere in PlaneShift. OOC should be used only in /tell with a GM, in the help channel or in petitions. All other communications have to be IC. OOC (Out-Of-Character) text should be designated with brackets [] as regular text comes from the mouth of your character, who knows nothing about computers, video games, the internet, or Picasso. Read the Setting for official information about the world your character belongs to and while your character can certainly come from another plane outside of it, dont do something outrageous like try to bring in RP guns. Keep with the medieval fantasy atmosphere as much as you can.

The game is about roleplay, so part of the rules are to encourage or "enforce" it as smoothly as possible. The freedom of everyone has to be respected as long as it doesn't come in the way of someone else's, with a priority on the RPG style. The name policy, the content of the dialogs and the online activities are concerned with this issue.It has to be a good experience for everyone, and to achieve this goal any annoying behaviour will have to be dealt with. That includes language and content, spamming, harassment and privacy.
Finally, applying the Rules of Conduct, and all the work organised to provide the players with the best possible environment, are a job undertaken by several actors: the developers, the advisors, the forum moderators and the game masters.

Disciplinary action may be taken against any player found breaching these rules. This action will be decided with consideration for the gravity of the offense.
Below you will find the different categories with their rules.

Roleplay
* Dialogues
IC dialogues should be used at all times, except when dealing with GMs in direct /tell. The language is English. You may use other languages in private messages like /tell, or in guild chat.

Respect
* Language and Content
You may not use in PlaneShift, post or link on the official website, any offensive or sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, unlawful, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive language, offensive imagery or content.You may not organize nor be a member of any pledges or groups within PlaneShift that are based on or espouse any racist, sexist, anti-religious, anti-ethnic, anti-gay, or other hatemongering philosophies.

* Spamming
When communicating in PlaneShift using the Chat, you may not spam, flood, or make duplicate messages.

* Harassment
You may not defraud, harass, threaten, or cause distress and/or unwanted attention to other players.

* Privacy
You may not post or communicate personal information of any player and nor do anything that may hurt privacy of other players in the game or the website of PlaneShift.

System
* Impersonation
You may not impersonate any member of the development team or GM or game representative.

* Hacking
You may not enter into gameplay practices that cause disruption of gameplay for other players, or adversely affect game performance.
You will not attempt to interfere with, hack into, or decipher any transmissions to or from the servers running PlaneShift.
You may not create "bots" or automation programs with the purpose of profiteering or advancing unattended.

* Exploit
You will not exploit any bug in PlaneShift and you will not communicate the existence of any such exploitable bug (bugs that grant the user unnatural or unintended benefits) either directly or through public posting, to any other user of PlaneShift.
Bugs should be promptly reported to Game Masters.

Personal Nature of Accounts
Use of the account is strictly personal. The account should not, even temporarily be shared with or otherwise extended to another person, nor may it be used in any way that is extraneous to the proper normal use of the game. All users are fully responsible for the use of their access account, and for the use made of their account by their underage child or by any other person who has access to it.

Naming Rules
The Naming Policy applies to the following naming options in PlaneShift:

* First Names
* Surnames
* Guild Names
* Pet Names
* Any naming options that may be implemented in future expansions or updates
A valid name is: An original and unique name which when used and read by any player from any culture is going to refer to your character in the PlaneShift world and to nothing else. Thus preserving your immersion into the virtual world and that of your fellow players.

Generic terms and conditions:

1. Character names must begin with a capitalized letter.
2. Character names cannot include numbers or special characters
3. No names should contain more than 2 of the same letter repeated and grouped together.
4. Names must make sense in a Medieval Fantasy setting.
5. Names must be in concordance with the setting of PlaneShift.

The following name types are not allowed:

1. Offensive or vulgar names or combinations of words that produce an offensive result. (Swearwords, insults, etc. e.g. Fartface)
2. Names that are swear words in other languages.
3. Vile, profane, rude, or racist names including common swear words, anatomical references, racial slurs, and homonyms of these words.
4. Names containing titles within them, such as, but not limited to: The, Lord, Lady, Master, King, Knight, Sir, Father and names that contain Adjectives or verbs. (Describing words, doing words)
5. Word combinations that may or may not result in making phrases or sentences (either in one name alone or first and last names combined. (e.g. Evilmastermind, The Fortuneteller, Fatebender, Incre Dible.)
6. Names of religious, occult, or significant historic origin or names from mythology. (e.g. Jesus, Allah, Satan, Asmodan, Bael, Stalin, Leviathan, Dragon).
7. Trademarked names of products, services, or concepts (e.g. , Linux, Sony, Ubuntu).
8. Fantasy or non-fantasy oriented names from popular media, books, other games or from the music industry. These names can be either fictional (e.g. Spiderman, Wolverine, Merlin, Gandalf, Lancelot) or non-fictional (e.g. George Bush, Silverster Stalone, Korn, Janis Joplin).
9. Common words and phrases that are not found in the environment or time setting of the game (e.g. Chainsaw, Killermachine, Cyborg, Laser, Dishwasher).
10. Names that represent objects of any kind, chemical substances, chemical elements, species or subspecies of animals, plants or insects, food products, anatomic parts, senses, feelings, physical and metaphysical concepts, etc. (e.g. Stick, Alcohol, Sulfur, Horse, Flower, Spider, Pie, Nose, Touch, Love, Solid, Fate).
11. Names representing real places, cities, or countries. (e.g. Forest, Mountain, Berlin, Albania)
12. Names chosen with the intent or possessed with the effect of harming the reputation of or used to impersonate any person or entity.
13. Any kind of names taken from slang, phonetics, obvious reversed words, internet culture or leet language. (e.g. Typo, Leet, Pwnzor, Pwner, Noob)
14. Any type of misspellings and alternative spellings that will result in the same pronunciation or translations in other languages for one of the aforementioned invalid names are also unacceptable. (e.g. Stewpid, Reetard, Leggolas, Rumbo, Phatcat)

Exceptions:

Surnames: For surnames certain word combinations are allowed. However these must also respect the rules stated under Generic terms and conditions. Examples of allowed surnames: Stronghand, Daggerblade, Forgehammer.

Guild names: For guild names, the paragraphs 4, 5, 9 do not apply, but certain moderation should be considered. For example guild names like Knights, Warrior knights, Defenders, Protectors, Angels of Chaos, Demonic Warriors, Felines, etc.

Pet names: The rules for naming your pets are the same as those for your character, with two exceptions:

Some titles are allowed. (for example, "Sir Beaky," "Lord Goldfeather"). Some adjectives or verbs are allowed. (for example, "Little Destroyer," "Flight Fear").

There is also more leniency towards silly names such as "Fluffy" or "Cutie," but pet names should not: Form OOC phrases or have non-medieval fantasy references. Be used as signs. Be used as objects.

Under any circumstance, a pet name may not use the name of an existing PlaneShift character, guild or NPC!

Remember that during char creation you can randomly generate your name. You can also find some useful fantasy name generators here: Be aware that you must check a generated name against the guidelines as they are not perfect and can not be considered automatically acceptable

http://www.seventhsanctum.com/index-name.php

http://rinkworks.com/namegen/

The Game Master (GM) Team reserves the right to change any name that could be considered unsuitable but doesn’t violate any of the aforementioned terms. Final arbitration of the fine points of interpretation of the aformentioned terms will rest with the GM team, in the interest of stable settings, consistent naming, and fair treatment of players.

We also decided to have characters coming from old PlaneShift releases compliant with these policies. Please contact us if your char was created before this policy and we will find a solution.

"Killstealing"
* Nobody owns a spawn, and nobody owns any attackable NPC unless they are already fighting it
* Taking an NPC from someone when they have already started an attack is considered kill stealing and will be punishable by GMs through warnings, and then further actions if the player continues.
* There is no need to ask players around a spawn whether you can "join" - everyone has a right to hunt or attack NPCs, and no one can refuse to share with you, since there is no ownership. However, being polite and asking to share beforehand is considered common courtesy and people will be much friendlier to you if you do.

Dropping Items
* Players are not allowed to drop items to decorate the world map! This puts stress on many clients and increases lag.
* If you need to drop items for roleplay, clean up after yourself - and don't expect the items to remain if you don't.
* Drop items for short time decorations at your own risk. GMs cannot get items back for you, as once something is on the ground, you lose ownership rights.

Misc
External Laws
You may not violate any local, state, national, or international laws or regulations.

Don't spoil the fun of others
By publishing quest solutions on the web you are lowering the realism of the game and you are spoiling the fun of other people. We are not against players teaming up and giving hints to each other, but we think that this should be done in game, with role-playing. Having a web page that simply list what to do to achieve more money and experience in less time should be considered something against the role-playing aspect of the game.

What you can do is to join a Guild or Group and share information with other members, possibly depending on their rank. You may also accept in your own guild players that have at least completed a certain number of quests to prove their dedication to the game. Alternatively, you can use quest completion as a benchmark for promoting players within your own guild.
|-
|}

General Questions
Why have all the crystals gone?
There are no crystals in the Steel Blue release like in the previous Molecular Blue release. The new currency is now Tria. Anyway you may still find Emeralds and Crystals down in the Laanx Dungeon.

Can I gain experience other than by fighting?
Yes, experience points are also awarded when you mine minerals and complete quests.

Can I buy a house?
No, it's a distant feature so don't expect it soon.

What's a GM?
GMs are Game Masters, they have special powers depending on their rank that they use to keep peace and help people in PlaneShift.

Can I be a GM?
GMs are picked by developers for being useful advisors. When you become a knowledgeable and experienced player, you can become an advisor using /advisormode on command. Then use /advice player_name to answer problems and earn advisor points. Don't look forward to being a GM until you worked a long time and regularly as an Advisor in the help channel.

How can I avoid fall damage?
Don't run down staircases, don't jump from high places and be careful when travelling dangerous paths where it may be easy to slip.

How do I open doors?
Doors that are shut cannot currently be opened.

How can I make money?
Money can be gained from looting dead monsters and selling what you find, mining ore, completing quests or selling the proceeds of your crafting.

How do I crouch?
The default key to crouch is [Right-Shift]. Hold down to make your character creep slowly while moving.

Why do I always die if I go into the well in the temple; there used to be a dungeon there?
The dungeon still exists; however the fall from the temple well might be fatal depending on your Health and Armor. There is a secret entrance to the dungeon somewhere else in Hydlaa.

Where are the sewers?
There are two entrances to the sewers. One is near the Tavern. You will have to find them yourself.

What happens when I die?
You are thrown away into the Death Realm, which you must escape in order to return back to normal world. Don't worry it's not hard.

How can I change my hotkeys?
You can change almost any hotkey from the Options Window.

How can I create shortcuts (macros)?
Right click on any button in the Shortcuts Window in game to change its name and assign commands to it.

How can I create an account to play?
The accounts in PlaneShift are free of charge. You can create an account with a valid email address at http://laanx.fragnetics.com/register/. See Section 1.5, “Creating An Account” for more information.

Where can I mine?
Minerals can usually be found at rocky outcrops. Exploring to find ore veins is part of the fun of PlaneShift!

How do I mine?
While standing on an appropriate dig site use /dig for mineral_to_dig command, e.g. for gold you'll use /dig for gold.

Where can I buy weapons?
You can buy them from Harnquist the smith in Hydlaa or the dwarf in first shop to the left in Ojaveda.

Where can I buy mining tools?
You can buy them from Harnquist the smith in Hydlaa.

I am having no success mining, what's wrong?
Be patient, everything is hard to being with. Your success in mining depends on your skill and quality of pickaxe used. Try raising your mining skills or buy a more expensive pickaxe.

Where's the new city called Ojaveda?
You will need to find the Hydlaa gate and explore far, far from the city of Hydlaa to find Ojaveda.

All players having same race look exactly same, is it possible to look different?
Not At the moment. Character customization is currently not available in Steel Blue.

Can only skills like sword, axe, etc. be bought or can you buy strength, endurance, will, etc.?
You can also buy training for strength, endurance and other stats, you just have to find the right trainer.

Are there Guilds in Plane Shift?
Yes, everyone can create or join a guild in the game. You need to use the Guild Window.

What are Guilds?
Guilds are pretty much another name for clans. Characters with a good amount of (in-game) money and a number of followers can build a new guild. They can invite friends to be part of it, giving them titles. A guild is normally associated to a job in Ylikaum society, like merchants, weapon smithy, etc. But a guild can be also created for other reasons, knowledge, defense, and politics.

The Dwarves are a people used to live in caves or tunnels. They are untiring workers, experts in crafting raw materials extracted from the earth like stone and metal. The Dwarves are more closely tied to Humans, in fact they differ only in height. Their main traits are: a healthy and robust body, one meter to one and a half meters in height, broad shoulders, a strong skeletal structure and eyes that can see in almost total darkness.

These traits are derived from the continuous hard work of building big cities starting from small caves. Since the early days of civilization, a ruthless natural selection has chosen only the Dwarves able to dig hard stone for an entire day and carry heavy materials from one place to another. Besides the few Dwarves that have an uncertain heritage, two races maintain their identity in the city of the Blue Sun. Their pride and temper often gets them into fierce fights. This may be the explanation for the legendary stubbornness of the "short people".
Physical Traits
Stonebreakers are generally shorter and less robust than other Dwarves, with blond or red hair and beard, and pale skin. They have developed an amazing strength. They are from 1.20 m to 1.40 m tall.
Abilities and Fields of Interest
The clan of Stonebreakers have lived for centuries digging tunnels, shafts, wells and caves in the deep of earth until they arrived to Yliakum. They are talented engineers of machinery like winches, ventilation pipes, canals, means of transport for goods and everything that can be useful to overcome the drawbacks of underground life. They are also powerful and untiring miners; many say that they created the Stone Labyrinths. But Lemurs and Krans know that the Stonebreakers made only parts of those tunnels. When they arrived the tunnels were already in place, even if not so complex.
Psychology
They have a strong pride that sometimes develops into feuds with other clans or other races. They tend to be suspicious and quarrelsome towards other races that are taller than they are.
Nutrition
They eat mostly meat, because they are not good farmers. What grain they need for bread, they usually buy from the Enkidukai, with whom they have a good relationship.
Their appearance is characterized by harmonious forms, straight hair and pointed ears. They are not as tall or robust compared to Diaboli and Humans, but still more so than Lemurs. The Elves are naturally inclined to philosophy, meditation and mysticism, with a strong respect for the ancestors; in fact, in spite of the prohibition, some groups secretly belong to the cult of the dead, stealing corpses from the procedure of expulsion.

Physical Traits
The most ancient race of Elves is the Nolthrirs, which first became part of the society as seaweed fishers and farmers, an activity it is believed they perfected before their arrival to Yliakum. After many centuries, the great amount of time spent working underwater and the unique altering properties of the Crystal have made the Nolthrirs an amphibious race, with webbed fingers and both gilled and pulmonary respiration. Nolthrirs appear as slim elves, with skin and hair colored from azure to green, and icy eyes colored from light azure to light green. They tend to be hairless on the body, but everyone, males and females have very long hair. They live mainly on the two submerged levels. They are from 1.50 m to 1.65 m tall.
Abilities and Fields of Interest
Almost all elves have familiarity with some form of magic, mainly elemental magic. Nolthirs have a particular disadvantage on using fire related spells, but on the other hand they master water spells.
Psychology
The serenity of the underwater life with its soft rumors and dimmed lights is reflected in Nolthrirs way of life.
Nutrition
Physical Traits
The Lemurs have an appearance similar to Humans, but their origins can't be connected unless we look at a very distant past. They have a hypoxygenated skin, which after living in dark and subterranean places with low ventilation perspires little and is almost completely without pigment. For this reason, they have a pale and azure complexion. Until two or three months of age, their children have an almost transparent skin that reveals the underlying capillary circulation. Their body is neither very robust nor resistant. They have light hair in a variety of hues. Lemur women, graceful and ethereal creatures, are amongst the most beautiful of Yliakum: male lemurs are equally beautiful but lack in masculine features like muscle. They are from 1.70 m to 1.85 m tall.

History
Created by the godess Laanx, Lemurs have been living in Yliakum longer than any other race. After Laanx was accidently disfigured by Talad, many Lemurs followed Laanx in his exile to the Stone Labyrinths. After many generations, this group arrived in a to a cave hundreds of times larger than Yliakum, and which held the stalagtite containing Yliakum. Here, they built the ten towns of Kadaikos, and were aided and ruled by Laanx. Eventually Laanx left, going back to Yliakum. After his departure, a black flame appeared in Kadaikos. The Lemurs believed it was a part of Laanx's soul and was supposed to rule his people till his return. The Black Flame was sentient however, and easily took control of the people in Kadaikos.

The Lemurs remaining in Yliakum seem to have had a relatively uneventful history, under the guidance of Talad.

Abilities and Fields of Interest
They have a clever intellect, superior to the other races. The Lemurs are brilliant artist, innate aesthete and researchers of beauty in all its forms.

Psychology
Everyone knows that the Lemurs were the first of all races to settle in Yliakum, and they are proud of it. The legends tell that their origins of the Lemurs are connected to a huge city located in the depths of earth, abandoned from a widespread disease. No one knows how to reach this city or if anyone still lives there. All lemurs share a sense of loss for their mysterious, distant homeland.

Nutrition
Lemurs love luxury and special food and are sometimes excellent cooks. They refuse to eat in normal taverns and such because the food is too "raw" there. Rare fishes and mixtures made of rare animals found in Stone Labyrinths are everyday meals.

Rules
They belong more to the mineral kingdom than to the animal one. Their organism is the only one, amongst the known races, to be based on silicon instead of carbon. They appear as humanoids made of rock. The color of the body is mainly gray or black and slightly wrinkled, with colored veins different from individual to individual. Some rare Kran have a different colored skin, like white, azure or pink, which is highly appreciated by Kran. Their head is slightly lengthened at the top, without ears and nose. They are born underground and none of them has ever seen the light of the sun. They are from 1.90 m to 2.10 m tall.

History
Created by the god Talad, the Kran have lived in Yliakum longer than any other race, except for the Lemurs. Their history seems to be relatively uneventful.

Abilities and Fields of Interest
Because their skin is made of silicon, the Kran are very resistant to laceration but, lacking flexibility, is more easily damaged by bludgeoning weapons. Silicon still supports oxygen linkages, so Kran breathe much more slowly than other races, enabling them to happily breathe underwater. Without ears, they perceive sounds thanks to vibrations on their bodies. Strong and tireless, Kran are as resistant as the rock that they were born from. Since magic was created to act on different principles, it seems to have little effect on them. Also, the way in which they reproduce is incompatible with all other races: there are no half-breed Kran.

Psychology
They are not one of most intelligent races of Yliakum, but they tend to be loyal and firm in their beliefs.

Nutrition
Kran metabolism is very complex, they are used to eat sand of various and precious minerals that are digested in their stomach thanks to strong acids. They can also eat food full of mineral salts like seaweed and some crystals created in their kitchen, similar to chemical laboratories.

Rules
(Implemented in future releases.) Infravision. Limit 8th rank for magic. Limit 8th rank for thief abilities and martial arts. They develop anti-magic skill very quickly compared to other races. ==Physical Traits==
The Klyros are a humanoid race with a tall, slim body ( they range in height from 160 cm to 180 cm) . Their skin is similar to reptiles, being slimy and cold, and varies from gray-green to steel dark blue. They have an oval head decorated with a multicolored crest starting from the forehead and ends at the base of the skull that make them look like a fish. White and drop-like eyes enable them to see in the dark. Their hands have sharp and dangerous claws. Just under the shoulders they have two big wings that appear to be weak and non-functional. The skeleton is thin and flexible to flight easier, but is easily damaged. Thanks to their body structure, the Klyros are fast in all three elements: air, water and earth.
Abilities and Fields of Interest
Klyros are brave hunters, travelers and fighters, and many are rich merchants. They have a talent for fishing deep-water fishes and small underwater monsters that are used to create very peculiar Klyros' garments and light armors. They are interested in decorative arts and magic, using those mainly for practical purposes.
Psychology
Thanks to their triple nature and their easy adaptability to environmental conditions, the Klyros are basically nomads and react quickly to new situations. The Klyros believe strongly in the concept of brotherhood amongst the other members of their race. Regardless of their appearance, they are not an evil race.
Nutrition
Being great fish hunters they tend to eat a lot of fishes and shellfishes. They are famous for cooking crabs in thousands of ways.
